GRAIN EQUIPMENT |
As usual, we are not afraid to swim against the tide and question the economics of certain UK farming practices.
Floor storage has become the norm on British farms, convenient as the handling is , it comes at a cost, both in initial investment, and inflexibility of individual crop specifications. Building a typical floor grain store involves large investment, and in most cases interest on borrowed money. Not only does a bin / store system offer far greater crop storage segregation, matching crop specifications to specific markets, it also offers "Bolt On " expansion as and when funds allow. The Hopper Bottomed range of stores are of extra interest to those with rented land base, as they are a saleable / moveable asset, with very low groundwork costs. Loading and unloading are no longer a slow option, high speed augers can achieve t his with greater speed and economy than a floor based system. There is no hand shoveling , less grain wastage, in both spillages and vermin damage, with more hygienic storage conditions.
